What To Expect During a Dental Appointment

Posted on 2/20/2023 by Dr. Michael Han
What To Expect During a Dental AppointmentOnce in a while, regardless of your oral hygiene, you need to visit our dentists for dental cleaning. Most people fear the teeth cleaning procedure which entails prodding characterized by occasional jaw discomfort. It is easy to see why some are reluctant to visit a dentist. A painless standard checkup performed by our professionals can take between 30 to 60 minutes. We make our patients as comfortable as we can.

A Physical Exam

Our hygienist performs teeth cleaning using a tiny mirror to check for signs of gingivitis, tartar build-up, and plaque in your mouth. The mirror assists our hygienists in knowing what areas to focus on. If a problem arises, our hygienist will inform our dentist for a thorough examination.

Scaling

Tartar and plaque are scraped from the teeth surface by our hygienist. Constant brushing and flossing of your teeth reduce their build-up. Once they accumulate, you have no option but to visit our dental offices to schedule an appointment. Therefore, if you are uncomfortable with this standard procedure, always remember to brush and floss every day.

Polishing and Flossing

Nothing beats our expert dental cleaning services, not even brushing your teeth frequently. Our hygienist will use a hand-held electric tool and gritty toothpaste to reach spaces that are hard for your toothbrush to reach. During this procedure, you will feel a grinding motion. Afterward, our hygienist will proceed to floss to ensure you have plaque-free teeth.

Fluoride Treatment Application

The final step of teeth cleaning is a standard fluoride treatment. This treatment is done to protect patients from cavities. Fluoride varnish is also applied to the teeth with a small brush. The vanish assists in teeth hardening. Get in touch with our office for more details about what to expect during a dental cleaning procedure.
